Frequently Asked Questions

Are you considering cosmetic dentistry but feeling overwhelmed by questions you have? Allow us to share some of our insights. What follows is a list of frequently asked questions about dental implant services,  such as what they are, when a person might need them, and how long it takes.

  • General

    • How does new dental implant technology benefit patients?
Northwest Implant Dental Spa employs some of the industry’s best technologies and techniques that help patients get the solutions they need with less recovery time and fewer complications. Implants and other dental prosthetics can be fully customized for comfort and looks, and we are able to employ a faster turnaround time with our in-house dental laboratory. • Do you offer financing?

We know that paying in full upfront may be unrealistic for many people which is why we partner with leading financing companies like Lending Club, Lending USA, and CareCredit to offer financing options that fit your budget. These plans include low fixed rates, low monthly payments, no upfront costs, no interest, and extended terms, depending on your needs.

    • Why are dental implants important?

Missing teeth can not only affect the look of your smile, they can also be detrimental to the way you speak and eat, as well as cause long-term problems, including shifting teeth and jawbone deterioration. Dental implants restore your smile, helping you regain confidence and preventing potential health issues in the future.

  • Crowns & Bridges

    • How Long Do Crowns Last?

Crowns can last from 5 to 15 years. How long a crown will stay in good condition depends on its material, how well it is taken care of, and a patient’s dental hygiene habits.

    • What Materials Are Dental Bridges Made Of?

We make dental bridges in-house from the same materials we use for crowns. These include cubic zirconia, porcelain, resin, and palladium.

  • Implant Supported Dentures

    • How Long Do Implant-Supported Dentures Last?

The dental implants can last for a lifetime. The dentures can last between 10 and 20 years, but that timeline depends on a person’s needs and dental hygiene. Our Wheeling prosthodontist can help patients understand the lifespan of their implant-supported dentures and how to best care for them.

    • When to Get Implant-Supported Dentures?

Like traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures are an option for those who have lost all or most of their teeth. They can be great for individuals who have recently lost teeth or struggled with traditional dentures.

  • Oral Surgery

    • What Is Oral Surgery?

Oral surgery is any procedure that involves the mouth. This can include removing wisdom teeth, inserting dental implants, or rebuilding parts of a person’s jawbone. Oral surgery often restores a person's ability to eat properly and improves their overall quality of life.

    • How Long Does Oral Surgery Take?

The time oral surgery takes will vary by procedure. Generally, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. More complex procedures, such as jaw reconstruction, may require multiple appointments.

    • Does Oral Surgery Require Anesthesia?

Yes. Depending on the complexity and length of the procedure, patients may receive local or general anesthesia. Local anesthetics numb a targeted area of the mouth, while general anesthetics put patients into a deep sleep.

    • How Long Does It Take to Recover from Oral Surgery?

Like the surgery time, recovery varies by procedure. Patients may need to take days off work or school to recover.

Our Wheeling oral surgeon at Northwest Implant Dental Spa provides patients with a recovery timeline and instructions for post-operation care that can include directions for taking antibiotics and pain medication, the types of food to eat, and whether to avoid strenuous physical activity.
